FAQs

Q: How does this product work?

Digestive Enzymes break down the foods that pets and their humans eat into more easily absorbable particles allowing the body more access to the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients found in our food.

Probiotics support the gut lining by building a stronger barrier from invaders (like pathogens) and providing a healthier access point for nutrient absorption from our foods.

Prebiotics supercharge Probiotics by encouraging the growth of healthy bacteria in the gut or “digestive tract”. Prebiotics act as the “food” for probiotics. Certain prebiotics can actually produce digestive enzymes helping the body be more efficient at breaking down foods naturally.

ATP is what the body uses to power every reaction, it is the primary energy carrier in all living organisms on earth. When you supplement with ATP, it can provide extra energy to aid the digestive process. For example, ATP is needed in both the human and animal body to break down the different macronutrients into usable energy. The exogenous consumption of ATP assists with the assimilation of nutrients through the better and more efficient breakdown of those macronutrients from food.  Learn more here.

Q: What makes us different?

Scientifically Formulated

Functionality - The team at Ruff & Purr carefully selected each prebiotic and probiotic strain after reviewing the available scientific studies which provided insight into the survivability, efficacy and benefits of each associated with dogs.

Survivability - We additionally, we reviewed the scientific data to determine the appropriate overages needed to ensure a 24-month shelf life as well as the correct delivery form and packaging to keep the product protected over its 24-month shelf life.

Integrity - At Ruff & Purr, integrity is important to us. Because of that we go above and beyond to ensure our customers and furry clients can feel confident that the product is what it stated on the label.

We tested other competitor products and found that over 66% of them had less that the label claim of probiotics! In addition, some actually failed completely and had zero probiotics remaining in the bottle.

We want to make sure we deliver a product that gets to you as we formulated it, because the numbers matter and you deserve to get what you pay for in every dose.

While there is some research that states even dead probiotics have benefits, we understand that the live probiotics are most beneficial for your dog.

We formulate with 5.8 billion CFUs per capsule based on stability data, to support a 4 billion CFU per capsule count at the end of 24 months.

Other products claim manufacturing date only because many are not doing the stability studies to support shelf life claims.

Most effect and efficient delivery system – we use a delayed release capsule

We utilize a capsule for our products because it eliminates the need for unnecessary filler ingredients, leaving only the beneficial ingredients. The capsule also prevents exposure to air and moisture as none of these ingredients can withstand a moist environment (can explain more about that if necessary).

Powder scoops are exposed to moisture and often contain unnecessary fillers to fill up a jar. Probiotics are very concentrated; you can get all that you need in a single capsule.

Soft chews and Chewable tablets require other ingredients to bind them together to keep their form. Soft chews are considered by some to be treats and thus more appealing to certain picky pawed eaters. Because of their more appealing nature they are generally higher in moisture and chewables/tablets use pressure and heat for compression. Both moisture and heat are not ideal environments for probiotics and digestive enzymes.

We use a delayed release capsule. Delayed release capsules provide an additional layer of security in that they will best ensure the contents will be better protected in your dog’s stomach. In humans, delayed release capsules have been proven to show that the contents of the capsules do not dissolve until they reach the intestines. They are literally delayed from being released in the stomach. This is important because probiotics cannot properly be assimilated or absorbed in the stomach as they are best absorbed in the intestines.

Safety + Quality

Our product is produced in a state-of-the-art probiotic ONLY facility. There are many probiotic brands in the market, but the best brands understand the delicacy of probiotics and their special care. Manufacturing in a probiotic specific facility ensures that our probiotic products are handled with care throughout the manufacturing process.

Another significant benefit of manufacturing in a specific probiotic facility is that it prevents the cross-contamination of any ingredients (such as certain herbs) that may compromise the viability of the probiotics.

We use only human grade ingredients in our product that are GRAS[1] (Generally Recognized as Safe) by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Restore M3® is made is a cGMP[2] (Certified Good Manufacturing Process) and NSF[3] Certified Facility to ensure the ultimate safety of the finished product. Many manufacturing sites across the US are GMP but not as many are cGMP and very few are also NSF Certified.

Sustainable and Innovative and Packaging

The recyclable CSP bottle we used for our Restore M3®Product is specifically designed for protecting probiotics and for optimal probiotic survival and shelf-life stability. It’s designed to keep probiotics dry and away from moisture, as heat and moisture will kill them.

Probiotics are temperature and moisture sensitive; this means every time the bottle is opened the probiotics are exposed to the elements. Our desiccant lined CSP bottle helps keep the contents dry even with frequent opening and closing of the bottle.

As stated above:

We chose the CSP bottle because probiotics have been tested specifically in CSP bottles to maintain better shelf bottles as compared to standard plastic bottles. This is due to the built-in desiccant wall

Standard bottles do not have built in desiccant so oftentimes these regular plastic bottles have to have added 1-2g desiccant packets to keep the contents dry.

CSP bottles have the desiccant built into the lining of the bottles wall so it's similar to having a double paned window, except in between the panes, there is a barrier to moisture.

Double pane windows provide a barrier noise and temperature and CSP bottles provide a barrier to moisture getting into the bottle, therefore keeping the product dry. The drier the product, the longer the shelf life, specifically when it comes to probiotics which are extremely moisture sensitive.  Read about them here.

Q: How do probiotics work?

Probiotics support the gut lining by building a stronger barrier from invaders (like pathogens) and providing a healthier access point for nutrient absorption from our foods. This is why probiotics are often recommended for issues with leaky gut in humans and in animals.

Certain probiotics can actually produce digestive enzymes helping the body be more efficient at breaking down foods naturally. This is one of the many reasons probiotics are good for digestive health.

Probiotics can also increase the number of Short Chain Fatty Acids (also known as SCFAs) which have numerous health effects including controlling populations of pathogenic or harmful bacteria in the gut as well as supporting the immune system and reducing inflammation.

Probiotics can be found in certain foods like yogurts and fermented vegetables and are often referred to as “good bacteria”.

Q: How do digestive enzymes work?

Digestive Enzymes break down the foods that pets and their humans eat into more easily absorbable particles allowing the body more access to the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other nutrients found in foods. When foods are not broken down into absorbable particles, the result is often symptoms of indigestion such as gas and bloating and smelly poop.

Digestive Enzymes can be found in nature in all raw foods. You may have heard of enzymes like proteases from pineapple and papaya plants. Digestive enzymes are produced from fermentation similarly to how probiotics and many vitamins are created for supplements and the food industry.

Q: Can I give Restore M3® to my cat?

Yes! Pet parents report that Restore M3®is also helpful for their cats too! We recommend opening the capsule and sprinkling it onto your cat's food with a tiny bit of water. The powder will easily dissolve so you do not have to try to convince your cat to take a capsule whole. We formulated Restore M3®without any taste or flavor so that even the pickiest animals can benefit from restoring their gut microbiome. While there are fewer studies on cats, we have read studies that show cats can benefit from prebiotics too. The digestive enzymes and probiotics may be helpful to better digest the proteins in cat foods as well, as undigested proteins can lead to kidney problems which often are problematic for our feline friends.

Q: How does a healthy gut promote healthy aging for my pet?

Having a healthy gut helps support us and our pets against short and long term illness. This is done by both having a greater amount of “good” or “healthy” bacteria in our digestive system as well as having a diverse population of microbes. One of the many benefits is gut motility or the movement of food and nutrients into our bodies. This means we can absorb more nutrients helping our bodies repair more quickly. When you or your pet eat more nutrient dense foods and absorb more nutrients from your food, the beneficial effect is less stress on your bodies and a slowing down of aging. Antioxidants are known for keeping us healthy and well, the same is true for our pets. Undigested foods can lead to gut imbalances, food allergies and leaky gut which are bad, but also things like toxin accumulation in the colon or additional stress on the kidneys which are much worse and can all lead to a shorter life.

Q: Is your product vet recommended?
